wishful thinking

2006 Holsteiner mare, Stamm A277. Awarded premium status as a filly in '06, & bonited as a Premium Holsteiner Mare & reserve site CHAMPION in '10. Modern & powerful Wishful Thinking descends from the famous C line of Carthago, Capitol & Calypso I. Early on she demonstrated great athletic potential, amazing conformation & an attitude to succeed. Her breeding is a line of proven successes. So often the best mares are sold and or entered into sport before being allowed the chance to produce. Following German example we took one of our best mares and held her back from sport, allowing her to have the one & only job of breeding champions.

Wishful Thinkings First foal Carvalla Real was Awarded premium status at her site inspection in 2010. In 2011 She produced Doncella Real although an obvious performer and destined to succeed this yearling was lost due to colic. In 2012 we were lucky enough to have Elepe Real a full sister of the exact same quality. This filly was not only a premium foal but she was site CHAMPION & won the futurity for being the highest scoring Mezcalero foal in the Country. Wishful Thinking seems to be following in her dams foot steps by only producing premium foals with great dispositions.

Sire Chesapeake is a newly imported Carvallo Son. Carvallo a successful international jumper, now gelded has continued to climb up the WBFSH stallion standings. With a number of successful offspring, including the number four ranked horse in the world Carlina & numerous other approved stallions. Carvallo lines are very sought after making Chesapeake a valuable addition to the holsteiner stud book. Chesapeake is currently competing & winning in the Grand prix ring with rider Mandy Porter. He passes on his scope & willingness to perform.

Dam  Alba Real  has been instrumental to our breeding program, throwing perfection every time.  Imported from Argentina she was successfully competing at level 7,8 before being injured and imported as our brood mare. This mare offers us a combination of rare thoroughbred & French blood. With a powerful Jump, strong hind end, refinement & exceptional conformation Alba Real possessed all the quality's needed to make a modern type jumper.

Stallion CapitolCarthago At his performance test, Carthago earned a 9.5 for free jumping & a 10 for jumping talent!!! Carthago Z finished in 11th place at the Atlanta Games with Jos Lanskink & the pair were members of the Dutch team at the Sydney Games. In all he competed in 15 Nations Cups. In 2001, the stallion, who had been leased to Leon Melchior since 1995, returned to his birthplace in Schleswig-Holstein & the Holsteiner Verband. Carthago is already the sire of numerous approved sons His progeny includes international showjumpers, such as Cim Christo at the 2004 Olympics under the Korean Bong Gak Sohn, as well as Kira III/Ludo Philippaerts/BEL, VDL Group Spiga/Leopold van Asten/NED, Caitano/Ulrich Kirchhoff, Campus/Steve Guerdat/SUI, Cristallo/Alois PollmannSchweckhorst, Caya/Sheila Burke/USA, K-Carrera/Michael Aabo/NOR, Charlottenhof’s Classix Girl/Sören von Rönne, and Hofgut Liederbach’s Cathleen/Pia-Luise Aufrecht.

CapitolCapitol is a real rarity in the ranks of Holsteiner stallions - a show jumping sire, whose name begins with ‘C’ who is not related to Cor de la Bryère. Capitol I was bought by the Holsteiner Verband, & soon established himself as one of the great show jumping sires, represented internationally by jumpers such as Corso (ridden by the Swiss, Willi Meliger), JR Number One (exported to the United States), Caruso Rex, Calle, and most notably of recent times, Cento, a team gold medalist at the Sydney Games, & who missed out of an individual medal by just one rail. According to Bernard le Courtois top 75 jumping stallions in the world, based on the FEI results of the top 2515 jumpers. He finds four major stallion lines: Almé, Cor de la Bryère, Landgraf and Capitol I. Capitol ranks 37th with 8 winners. His best performer is the mare, Gitania - but five of his stallion sons feature in the top 75.The Capitol son, Carthago is ranked No 2 in the world with 36 winners in 2006.
stallion Landgraf
Landgraf Jumping is the field where he excells most as a sire. The list of his show jumping offspring is endless. A few names for example: Freestyle (formerly Lalique) won Aachen Grand Prix, Libero won the Dutch National title five times, & also the 1994 Volvo World Cup. Nearly sixty colts by Landgraf  have been licenced for the Holsteiner stud book. So far, 340 broodmares by Landgraf  are registered in the Holsteiner stud book, 260 of these are in the Head Stud Book, 70 have been awarded the State Premium, and a considerable number have been champion mares at shows. Landgraf I was a legend already during his life time. His genes are securely ancored in the breed of the modern sporthorse. In the 2007-2008 edition of the French breeding guide, Bernard le Courtois has examined the performance records of the world's top jumping horses in 2006. On the basis of 2515 competitors, he has compiled a list of the top 75 stallions in the world. He identifies four dominant male lines: Almé, Cor de la Bryère, Capitol and Landgraf. Landgraf is the sire of five stallions out of the top 75, with two in the top ten. The most successful of his sons is Burgraaf, who has 26 winners to occupy 6th place. The World Cup winner, Libero is in 9th place with 22 CSI winners. He is the only stallion with two representatives - Libertina and No Mercy - in the world's top ten performers!

Calypso I

Calypso I  A large bay holsteiner stallion standing at 16.3, born in 1973. This stallion played a large roll in keeping the versatility of the holsteiner horse. He has produced many international competitors in both the dressage and jumper ring. To date he has 10 approved sons and over 140 approved daughters.
